//Greetings Message//
At a time of great transition, when the once familiar is taking on new forms, and amid a whirlwind of emotions, artists have been obliged to dig deeply within themselves and probe every corner of their hearts.
The International Exchange Exhibition 2024 – Power of Empathy involves members of Busan Arts & Crafts Artists Association, alongside artists from 11 nations, including Kyushu and other regions of Japan, Belgium, Bulgaria, Finland, France, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, and the United States.
This exchange exhibition represents a platform for these artists from various countries to explore, to communicate, to evolve, and build relationships during these times of change, drawing on our capacities for empathy and mutual growth.
The materials chosen by each artist are extraordinarily diverse, and their ability to use and interpret them is yet more remarkable. The blend of varying elements that have been brought together, to be reborn in unique, new forms, represents the challenge to understand and accept the inevitable conflicts that arise in life, and the wounds that result, ultimately leading to healing and recovery. For those of us who feel lost, off the map in uncharted territory, this is a valuable opportunity for profound existential contemplation.
When one person’s imagination is able to communicate with the imaginations of many, the power of empathy becomes exponentially strengthened.
We sincerely hope that you will enter this imaginative and creative space with an open mind and an open heart, free from rigid rules and preconceptions.
We would like, in closing, to extend our gratitude to the City of Busan and the Busan Cultural Foundation for their assistance in creating an exhibition through which the power of empathy will shine. We likewise offer our deepest thanks to the artists for their exceptional and illuminating work. 익숙한 것들과 결별하고 새로운 익숙함으로 변화하고 있는 지금, 작가들은 휘몰아치는 감정을 다스리며, 마음의 모퉁이에서 서로 다른 것들을 연결하는 것에 집중해 왔습니다.
International Exchange Exhibition 2024 – ‘Power of empathy’展은 부산공예가협회 회원, 큐슈를 비롯한 일본 전 지역의 작가, 벨기에, 불가리아, 핀란드, 프랑스, 독일, 라트비아, 리투아니아, 우크라이나, 미국, 등 11개국의 작가들로 구성된 교류 전시입니다.
이번 교류전은 변화와 관계 속에서 각국의 작가들이 도약과 소통에 대한 다양한 방법을 모색하고 공감 능력을 끌어내어 상생하는 장입니다. 각자 사용하는 재료는 다르지만, 그것을 해석해 내는 능력은 실로 경이로운 일입니다.
다양한 이질적인 요소들이 만나 새로운 모습으로 탄생 된 흔적들의 어우러짐은, 삶에서 불거진 갈등과 상처를 이해와 수용으로 받아들이며 치유와 회복으로 나아가 고자 고민하고 도전한 흔적들입니다. 좌표 없이 달리는 오늘의 우리에게 본질에 대한 사색의 기회를 제공할 것입니다. 한 사람의 상상력이 만인의 상상력 으로 치환될 때 공감의 힘은 더욱 강력하게 발휘됩니다.
마음에 고운 필터를 끼우시고, 상상력의 공간에 부디 방문하시어 정형화된 레시피에 얽매임 없이 오롯이 마음의 주인이 되어보시길 바랍니다.
끝으로 이번 전시회에 공감의 힘을 발휘할 수 있게 도움을 주신 부산광역시와 부산문화재단에 감사드리며, 훌륭한 작품으로 공간을 빛내주신 작가분들에게 깊이 감사드립니다. 특히 공감의 힘을 발휘할 수 있게 도움을 아끼지 않은신, Studio NEXUS 그룹의 대표 이시이카쿠코(Ishii Kakuko)씨와 전쟁의 폭격 속에서도 멋진 감성을 펼쳐내 주신 우크라이나의 Andrew Schneider
